The iconic tidal island St Michael's Mount in Mount Bay, Cornwall. The island is crowned with a medieval church, castle and subtropical gardens. It is linked to the mainland by a granite causeway which is only passable between mid and low tide and is best seen from the village of Marazion, the oldest town in Cornwall. The island is steeped in history. It has been home to the St Aubyn family since 1650 and is currently managed by the National Trust.
This image was taken from a holiday sketchbook, drawn in situ from the beach as the tide ebbed and finished with watercolour wash.
